About this service
Quieter rooms, built into the walls and ceilings.
Good soundproofing combines mass, separation and absorption. We use high-density acoustic plasterboard for mass, resilient bars or independent frames to separate the new surface from the structure, and mineral wool in the cavity to absorb sound.
Just as important is sealing every gap: perimeters, sockets and service holes. Small gaps let a lot of noise through, so we treat the details as carefully as the boards.
What's included
- Noise problem assessed: voices and TV (airborne) or footsteps (impact)
- Independent wall linings or resilient bar systems to decouple
- Mineral wool insulation in the cavity
- High-density acoustic board, often double-layer with staggered joints
- Acoustic sealant around perimeters and service penetrations
- Socket boxes treated so they do not become weak points
- Ceilings hung on resilient bars or acoustic hangers
- Built to the specified system where Building Regulations apply
Why it works

FAQs
Soundproofing: your questions
Something else? Ask us when you request a quote, or call and talk it through.
How much quieter will it be?
It depends on the type of noise and the existing structure. Voices and TV (airborne noise) respond very well to acoustic linings; footsteps (impact noise) usually need treatment from the floor above as well. We will be honest about what to expect.
How much room space will I lose?
A resilient bar system adds very little thickness. Independent linings perform better but take more space. We will show you the options and the trade-off.
Does your soundproofing meet Part E?
We install the acoustic system specified for your project. Where sound testing is required, it is carried out by an independent tester after completion.
Can you soundproof a ceiling from below?
Yes. We can add resilient bars and acoustic board below the existing ceiling, or take it down and rebuild with insulation in the void for better results.
