About this service
Seamless suspended ceilings, flat and level.
An MF ceiling is a suspended plasterboard ceiling. Hangers are fixed to the structure above, primary channels and MF ceiling sections form a concealed metal grid, and plasterboard is screwed underneath for a smooth finish with no visible grid.
It lets us drop a ceiling below pipes, ducts and steels, correct uneven structure, and form bulkheads, coffers and recessed lighting details. With the right boards it can also be fire-rated or acoustic.

FAQs
MF Ceilings: your questions
Something else? Ask us when you request a quote, or call and talk it through.
What is an MF ceiling?
MF stands for metal furring. It is a concealed metal grid hung from the structure, with plasterboard fixed underneath, giving a flat, seamless ceiling that looks just like a traditional plastered one.
What is the difference between an MF ceiling and a grid ceiling?
An MF ceiling hides its grid behind plasterboard for a seamless finish. A grid ceiling has a visible grid with lift-out tiles, which is common in offices because it keeps services accessible.
How far will an MF ceiling drop?
Only as far as needed to clear the services above. We survey the void first and agree the finished height with you before we start.
Can you allow for downlights?
Yes. We plan the grid around your lighting layout and add support where needed, so your electrician can fit downlights cleanly.
